Robert E. Whalon

Robert E. Whalon, 76, of Norristown, PA passed away peacefully on December 2, 2017.  

He was born in Reading, PA on April 14, 1941, the son of  the late Lillian (Barsuglia) and Leslie E. Whalon.   

Robert has been living in West Norriton for 12 years, formerly of Reading.  He honorably served in the U.S. Navy and was a Vietnam Era Veteran.  Robert was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish for 35 years and St. Teresa of Avila Parish for 12 years.  He was also a member of  the Stoney Creek Anglers Club, Sertoma Club of Reading, Boeing Management Association Clown Brigade, Eddystone Volunteer Fire Co., and was a Boy Scout and Girl Scout Leader.  Robert was a very caring person and always put the needs of others first.                                                      

Survivors include his beloved wife of 50 years, Bernadette "Bonnie" (DeVito) Whalon of Norristown;  

three daughters, Valerie Whalon of Ardmore, PA, Michelle ( & Brian) Solarek of Padre Island, TX, and Christine ( & Adrian) Murren of Reading, PA;

two sons, Christopher ( & Donna) Whalon of Kinston, NC, and Timothy ( & Megan) Whalon of J.B. Andrews, MD;

two brothers, Ed Whalon of Lafayette Hill, PA, and  Ernie Whalon of Cherry Hill, NJ;

as well as seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  

Along with his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his sister, Elaine Bailey.  

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing in Church Thursday, December 7, 2017, 9:00 – 9:45 AM at St. Teresa of Avila R.C. Church, 1260 South Trooper Road, Norristown, PA 19403, followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM.   

An additional viewing will be held on Friday, December 8, 8:00 – 8:45AM at the Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 19 East Germantown Pike, East Norriton PA 19401, followed by interment at 10:30AM in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Rd, Newtown, PA 18940
