Ed was a devout Catholic and memebr of the former St. Augustine's Church of Bridgeport. He Served as Class President and graduated from West Catholic High School for boys in 1949. He was Class President and proud graduate of Saint Joseph's University where he was later active in the alumni association. He also earned a Master's Degree in Education from Temple University. He was a dedicated member of Malvern Retreat House for over 50 years. He enjoyed umpiring baseball and was active in local associations until his passing. His greatest passion was for teaching both at Marple Technical School and Upper Merion School District.

Obituary of Edward C. Gannon

Edward C. Gannon, 85, of Norristown, passed away on May 24, 2016. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on January 9, 1931 to the late Thomas and Ruth (Koch) Gannon. Ed was a devout Catholic and member of the former St. Augustine's Church of Bridgeport. He served as Class President and graduated from West Catholic High School for Boys in 1949. He was Class President and proud graduate of Saint Joseph's University where he was later active in the alumni association. He also earned a Master's Degree in Education from Temple University. Ed was a dedicated member of Malvern Retreat House for over 50 years. He enjoyed umpiring baseball and was active in local associations until his passing. His greatest passion was for teaching both at Marple Technical School and Upper Merion School District. He honorably served in the Navy during the Korean War. Ed was the father of Francis X. Gannon of Berwyn, PA; Peggy (& Todd) Fernandez of Seattle, WA; and Barbara (& Eric) Stein of Schwenksville, PA. Grandfather of Jakob, Stella, Evie & Benjamin. Preceded in death by brothers Thomas and Jack and one sister, Rita Hanlon. His Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 10:30 AM at St. Francis of Assisi RC Church, Marshall & Buttonwood Sts., Norristown, PA 19401. Friends may call on Saturday morning from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM at the Church. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Malvern Retreat House, 315 S.
