Obituary of C. Richard Morton, Esq.

C. Richard Morton, Esq., 87, life-long West Chester resident, passed away on August 20, 2016. He was born in West Chester on July 23, 1929 to the late Charles H. and Ethel (Preston) Morton. A Graduate of the Dickinson School of Law, Dick was admitted to the Bar of Pennsylvania and Chester County in 1954 and later to the Bar of the US Supreme Court in 1994 and practiced law in West Chester for or 62 years. A past President of the Chester County Bar Association, Dick enjoyed most representing Pro Bono cases to assure people of little means the opportunity to enjoy their god given right to equality before the law. Dick has served as a member of the Vestry at the Church of the Advent, Kennett Square. Dick joined the International Lions Club 1955. He enjoyed every opportunity work with like minded people to raise funds for worthy causes in the community. Dick counted the members of the Avon Grove Lions Club as his closest friends. Loving husband of 55 years of Marion Morton of West Chester. Father of Shannon Watson of Coatesville and John (& Karen ) Morton of West Chester. Brother of Anita, Frances, John and Fred. He was the grandfather of Patrick, Justin, Emory, Alexander, Kerstin, Cristina, and Danielle. Dick is also survived by cousins Kathy and Carol and his loving dog, Toby. Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation in Church on Thursday, August 25, 2016 after 9:30 AM, followed by his Memorial Service at 10:30 AM at the Church of the Advent, 401 N. Union St., Kennett Square, PA 19348. Rev. Nancy Hauser will officiate. Interment will be private in The Oaklands Cemetery, West Chester.
