Obituary of Gary C. Sagwitz

Gary Charles Sagwitz of Spring City, PA died suddenly on September 14, 2016. He was born in Youngstown, Ohio on March 25, 1953. He was a member of the first graduating class of Perkiomen Valley High School in 1971, retaining close friendships with those from the Collegeville-Trappe area. He worked as a foreman for Twin County Construction Company in Limerick for 15 years, prior to that working for the Rivendell Construction Company in Pottstown and Allied Tank Company in Collegeville. Gary thoroughly enjoyed the time he spent on the turnpike exchanges working with heavy equipment and performing concrete work. He worked on the installation of the E-ZPass system from its inception. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Post 602 in Spring City, and social member of Royersford VFW, Post 6341, and Kline-Styer-McCann VFW, Post 7155 in Trappe. Gary was a passionate lover of cooking, Alex's cheesesteaks, a fair-weather fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies, a loyal friend, and intensely passionate about taking care of those he loved. Gary is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Teresa (nee Harrington). He is survived by his step-daughter, Melanie of Newark, DE and her son Jackson. Gary is also survived by a sister, Sandy Brinton of Audubon and brother, Charles of Pottstown and nieces, Holly and Shari, and nephews, Keith and Steven. Also surviving Gary is his kitty, Bitty, who spent endless hours by his side. He is preceded in death by his parents Irene (nee Johnson) and Charles Sagwitz, and his sister JoAnn Camara, formerly of Collegeville, PA. His beloved dog Hillary of 15 years was waiting at the golden gates for his arrival. A celebration of life will be planned in the near future.
