Obituary of Edward Charles Lightkep, Jr.

Edward C. Lightkep, Jr. “DJ Eddie Light”, age 87 of Oaks, PA passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025 in his home, surrounded by his loved ones. 

Ed was born in Norristown, PA to Mabel (Rhoads) Lightkep and Edward Lightkep, Sr. on January 23, 1938.  He attended Conshohocken High School and graduated in1956.  He went on to join the Navy and proudly served his country as a Seabee for the next four years.  His vast knowledge of carpentry, electric, and plumbing allowed him to work various construction jobs throughout the years.  He enjoyed working on his model trains, woodcraft, and especially spending time with his family.  He also worked part time as a disc jockey and provided entertainment and countless good times for everyone who attended.  He was also involved in country line dancing for a number of years. 

Ed is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy T. (Addington) Lightkep; his five children, Susan Dery (Alan) of Orange, Mass., Edward Lightkep III of Florida, Richard Lightkep of Florida, Melissa Hess (Dennis) of Pottstown, PA, and Mark Lightkep of Arizona.  Ed is also survived by four grandchildren and many great grandchildren. 

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Lightkep. 

His Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025 at 11:00 AM from the Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 300 Fayette St.,  Conshohocken, PA 19428.  Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing on Friday morning from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.

Interment will take place in Gulph Christian Cemetery, West Conshohocken, PA. 

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to: Green Tree Church of the Brethren, 1078 Egypt Road, Oaks, PA 19456. 

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all of the Penn Medicine Hospice nurses and the staff at Phoenixville Hospital.
