Obituary of Rose Giannone Kegel

Rose Giannone Kegel, age 84, of Lansdale, PA passed away on Friday, February 20, 2026.

She was born in Norristown, PA on June 3, 1941, the daughter of the late Salvatore and Raffaela (Montagna) Giannone.

Rose was a 1959 graduate of Bridgeport High School where she was a competitive athlete in field hockey and basketball as well as a member of the cheerleading squad.

While a longtime resident of the Lansdale area, Rose resided in the King of Prussia and Harrisburg areas earlier in life. She was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima RC Church of North Wales. As her health declined she became unable to attend mass in person and watched mass daily on EWTN. Her professional career spanned many companies and jobs. Most proudly, she retired from Montgomery County Domestic Relations as a supervisor. Some years after retirement she became a beloved caregiver with Home Instead of Skippack where she was named caregiver of the year.

In leisure, Rose enjoyed watching sports. She was a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, Ohio State football, UConn and South Carolina women’s basketball, and the Philadelphia Flyers. As one of the first Flyers season ticket holders, Rose was in the crowd for the 1974 Stanley Cup win. In addition to sports, Rose loved to cook, eat at diners, and take trips to the Italian Market in Philadelphia as well as New York’s Little Italy. Her favorite getaway was Long Beach Island, NJ. Rose loved animals. When her son John would be away she often cared for his cats and continued to ask about them daily until she was no longer able to communicate.

She is survived by her daughter, Jeanene Kegel of Lansdale; son, John (Anna) Kegel of Boyertown; two sisters, Philomena Martino of Norristown and Anne Korkus of West Norriton; and grandson, Joshua M. Campbell of Lansdale as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael and Mario Giannone and sister, Mary Korkus.

The family would like to thank the staff at Moss Acute Rehab Doylestown, Bayada Home Care, Bayada Hospice of Blue Bell as well as Deacon Claude Granese, Rev. Bernard J. Taglianetti, Rev. Ihor Royik, and her loving friends Linda Schuler and Jenny Baughman for their diligence and commitment to Rose’s wellbeing.

Her Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at 11:00 AM from St. Rose of Lima RC Church, 428 S. Main St., North Wales, PA 19454.

Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation on Thursday morning from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Church.

Interment will be private.
