Obituary of John W. Hilson
John W. Hilson, age 98, of Collegeville, PA passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
He was born in Scranton, PA on July 21, 1927, the son of the late Joseph and the late Helen (Hamm) Hilson.
John has been living in Collegeville for the last 3 years, formerly of Scranton, PA.
A proud veteran, he served his country in WW II. After his military service, he worked for 30 years as a postal worker. Though he valued hard work, his greatest pride was his family. He leaves behind his children and grandchildren who carry forward his kindness, humor, and steady example.
He found joy in life’s simple pleasures—daily walks, hunting, fishing, golf, crosswords, trivia, good meals, Bingo and never turning down a cup of coffee. Known for his easy charm, contagious laugh, and accepting heart, he made everyone feel heard and welcomed. A man of quiet faith, he believed deeply and loved fully. While his family mourns his loss, they find comfort in knowing his legacy lives on in the generations who will continue to walk, laugh, love, and live as he did.
He was the husband of the late Anne (Mahoney) Hilson.
He is survived by two daughters, Mauri Conforti (Dr. Alan Peslak) of Collegeville, PA and Lisa (Dr. Caesar) DeLeo of Cranberry Twp., PA; two sons, John (Lori) Hilson of Wrightstown, WI and Mark (Hillary) Hilson of Ketchikan, AK. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kameron (Rachel) Conforti, Kayla (Brian) Hengemihle, Patrick (Gabrielle) Hilson, Matthew (Anna) Hilson, John (Laura) Hilson, Scott (Brianna) Hilson, Katie Hilson, Caitlin DeLeo, Caesar (Kayla) DeLeo, Michael (Namrathi) DeLeo, Dominic DeLeo, Kathleen Garrity, Michael (Lindsey) Garrity, Margaret (Karl) Turner, Noah Hilson, Quinn Hilson, and Zachary Hilson; and great grandchildren, Harper, Hailey, Anthony, Logan, Olivia, Henry, Carter, Clara, Bella, Millie and Nina.
Along with his wife and parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Hilson.
