Obituary of Jonathan S. Jacoby

Jonathan “Jon” Jacoby, 75, raised in Furlong, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family. He lived a life defined by devotion—to his work, his passions, his faith, and most of all, to the people he loved.

Jon was a proud graduate of Lafayette College and spent his professional career with General Electric, serving in a variety of roles in sales, marketing, and product management. His career took him across the country, and he and his wife Vivien made homes in Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, Wisconsin, Washington, and Kentucky. Wherever he lived, Jon left a lasting impression through his integrity, curiosity, and ability to connect with others.

Music was at the very heart of Jon’s life. He generously shared his gift of song as a member of barbershop quartets, choruses, and church music groups throughout his life. Most recently, he founded and led the praise band “Reflections” at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Anchorage, Kentucky. Through music, Jon brought joy, comfort, and inspiration to his community, believing deeply in its power to unite and uplift.

Jon was a supporter of University of Louisville men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball, an avid tennis player and fan of the sport, a wine enthusiast, and a passionate gardener. He found deep satisfaction in the outdoors and in designing, building, and creating projects in his workshop and greenhouse.

Jon loved to travel, finding great joy in exploring new places and cultures, always prioritizing the people he met and the stories they shared.

Above all, Jon was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He took immense pride in supporting the passions, accomplishments, and dreams of his family and was their greatest champion. His love extended as well to the many dogs who were constant companions throughout his life.

Jon is survived by his beloved wife, Vivien (Shirtz) Jacoby; his daughter Kirsten (Jacoby) Omonogun and her husband Gbolabo Omonogun, and their daughters Michaela and Gracelyn; his daughter Brianne (Jacoby) Hastings and her husband Ronald Hastings Jr.; and his brothers Peter Jacoby (Karen) and Jeffery Jacoby (Tobe), along with their children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Dorothy Jacoby.

Jon’s legacy—rooted in love, generosity, curiosity, faith, and music—will continue to resonate in the lives of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A memorial service will be held on June 5 at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Episcopal Church in Collegeville, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family invites those who wish to honor Jon’s memory to make a donation to the Save The Music Foundation, reflecting his lifelong belief that music has the power to change lives and connect people.
