Obituary of William O. Fries

William O. Fries, Sr., 96, of Schwenksville, PA passed away on February 12, 2018. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on January 4, 1922, the son of William and Clara (Bayer) Fries. He honorably served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and worked for the Federal Government for 36 years. He enjoyed baseball, square dancing, roller skating, bingo and working on his house and car. He was a fourth-degree member and past grand knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 3633. He was a long-time member of St Mary's Parish in Spring Mount where he served as choir director for several decades. He was also a member of the Philadelphia Archdiocesan Choir for 30 years. He was an active participant of the Ken Crest Parent Association for many years and a member of Methacton Community Theater. Survivors include his son: William O. Fries, Jr. of Millersville, MD; four daughters: Evelyn Ryle of Bloomington, IN, Jeanine Dimmick of Lansdale, PA, Christine Alburger of Norristown, PA, Diane Balog of Schwenksville, PA; sister, Helen Wagner; ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and Gladys' children. Along with his parents, William was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Eva M. Weaver, his wife of 7 years Gladys Pike Williams his son, Charles J. Fries; two brothers, Ted & Carl Fries; and three sisters, Martha Mood, Anna Donohue, and Marie Fries. His Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, February 19, 2018 at 11:00 AM from the Church of St. Mary, 40 Spring Mount Road, Schwenksville, PA 19473. Friends may call on Sunday evening from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 224 West Main Street, Trappe PA 19426 and on Monday morning from 10:00 to 10:45AM at the Church. Interment will take place in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham, PA. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to: Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org
