Obituary of John F. Casinelli

John has lived in Conshohocken, Pa most of his life John "Big John" Casinelli a congenial Tavern Owner. Mr. Casinelli purchased a bar in Conshohocken in 1951 and Big John's Tavern became a popular gathering place for neighbors John served in the US Marines during World War II, he was a Corporal and he served in the Pacific and participated in action in Peleliu, Palau Islands where he was wounded and awarded the Purple Heart, and in Okinawa Islands, along with the Purple Heart he also recieved the Good Conduct Medal While in the Marines he began boxing and continued to become a Professional Box at a young age. As a business man in Conshohocken he sponsored Conshohocken Midget Footbal, and was President of Conshohocken Little League in 1959 when he with others were responsible for the fund raising and construction of the existing baseball fields still used today. Big John was and avid golfer and a longtime member of Plymouth Country Club, where he was Captain of the Golf Team He retired in 1985 and moved to Florida with his wife Frances where they lived for 8 years before moving back home
