Obituary of Helen Moran

NAME OF DECEASED: Helen Moran ADDRESS: Conshohocken, PA AGE: 92 OCCUPATION: Homemaker OTHER INFORMATION: Born in Philadelphia, PA on October 12, 1921 Helen graduated from Overbrook High School and was proud of her January, 1939 class that had 80% children of immigrants from many countries. She was on the reunion committee every frive years and loved renewing freindships with her clasmates. Helen worked a few years at the former Insurance Company of North America starting as a file clerk and advanced to re-insurance clerk. At the former Blue Cross of Philadelphia, Helen became "DiGi" because there were seven "HELEN'S". She worked there several years from unit clerk to supervisor of contract changes unit. In WWII, she was a blood donor and in the "Gallon Club". She worked at Quaker Chemical Products Corporation for several years from bookkeeping clerk to supervisor of combined accounting & statistical department. Helen was elected to Plymouth-Whitemarsh school board for a six year term and did not hesitate to make waves in various committees. She formed a group of her co-workers at Quaker to be Big Sisters to the former St. Joseph School for Girls on Sandy Street in Norristown. Helen was a volunteer at Holy Saviour Rectory for over 40 years and a volunteer at Conshohocken Neighborhood Council for over 10 years. She enjoyed people and kept in touch with former classmates, former co-workers and old friends from West Philadelphia. Helen loved to relate zany pranks, either giving or receiving at Blue Cross where the camaraderie was unbelievable. She had the funniest mishaps and experiences and laughed as loud as the group who was involved. Helen wishes her friends to toast "the age of innocence" and relish remembering what a wonderful world we had in our youth regardless of Depression, WWII and living within a budget!
