Obituary of Richard L. Bechtel

Richard L. Bechtel  

Richard L. Bechtel, 79, of Plymouth Meeting, PA passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, January 15, 2023. 

He was born in Norristown, Pa on July 28, 1943, the son of the late Jacob Leidy Bechtel and Dorothy ( Kratz ) Bechtel.

He has lived in Plymouth Meeting, Pa since 1965, formerly of Norristown where he was born and raised.

Richard attended Norristown Area High School and went to serve in the United States Army from 1960 to 1966, he was stationed in Germany for two years.  He recieved the Army Occupational Medal Berlin, Good Conduct Medal, and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.  Upon returning home, he worked as a self employed painter and paper hanger for 45 years before retiring.

Richard was a lifelong animal lover, and enjoyed camping, nature, traveling to Maine with friends and "putzing" around the house.  He was also a proud friend of Bill W. for 43 years and many old timers knew him as "Dip-N-Dab".

He was the husband of Donna ( Souder) Bechtel.

Survivors include Wife of 62 years, Donna Bechtel of Plymouth Meeting, Pa, Son Richard (& Lisa Sardo) Bechtel, Jr. of East Norriton, Pa, Daughter Jennifer (& Peter) Magliocco of Horsham, Pa, He is also survived by his  Grandchildren Ahrend Bechtel, Stephaine (& Brian) Wrigley, and Andrew Bechtel, and his Great Grandchildren Kirra, Peyton and Carson Wrigley.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a Sister Doris Elaine Bechtel. 

The family will be receiving visitors on Thursday Evening, January 19, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 19 East Germantown Pike, East Norriton, PA.

Interment will be private.
