Pete was my Insurance Broker when I joined the Insurance Department of South Jersey Gas Company way back in the 1990's. Within no time at all Pete became a dear trusted individual to all the leadership at my Company, and most of all to me.
His comedic chops could have landed him on a stage at any comedy club. His knowledge of insurance was second to none.
I will never forget you Pete. And I will always have you on my list of departed love ones as I recite my daily Rosary and pray we shall be together again when GOD shall bring us all together on the last day.
Nancy, I am sorry I could not be there today as I babysit my two toddler grandchildren all week, every week. I feel really bad, but please know you are in my prayers as well. Speaking from my own experience loosing my wife to cancer, I can tell you that the days ahead will not be easy. But I can promise you that our faith in Jesus will make it better. As now we have an advocate in Heaven that can take our prayers to the Lord himself. Love to all the family.

Peter was a trusted mentor in the early stages of my career, and a great resource for all things Boy Scout to this single mom. I had the pleasure of reconnecting many years later during his consultancy with my previous employer; I'd have recognized the face and the voice anywhere. His kindness and intelligence were a gift; my deepest sympathies to his wife and family in these difficult times. Rest in peace, Peter and God bless.

In 1977 Pete and I joined an insurance brokerage within a couple of weeks of each other. Pete had 13 years on me and over time my relationship was as a student, a co-worker, a co-designer of complex risk and best buddies.
Pete was brilliant, and as such complex. He was without a doubt the most knowledgeable person I ever met on insurance. He was a champion of the underdog, highly opinionated, helpful to those that needed it, but conservative in thought. He disliked the self-absorbed and those that felt entitled, as everything that he achieved was done by his hard-work; he especially did not suffer fools. His clients loved him, he was honest and hard-working; he was their champion.
He celebrated his Irish heritage which led to interesting dialogues when underwriters from England came to visit; I kept quiet laughing to myself. He did often reveal his pity for me with my mostly English heritage.
He was completely devoted to two things in life. His love of family, especially his wife Nancy; to his dying day he talked of his love and pride in her, their children and grandchildren. His other love was for his church; he was an extremely devout Catholic. His teaching skills were translated to his teaching innumerable children about his faith. The world would be a better place if more believed as he did.
My avocation was art and it is not well known that when an opportunity to donate some religious works by Joseph T. Pearson, Jr., came up he nagged me, or better yet tortured me to get the work donated to his alma mater, Villanova. I know that at one time, the painting of Christ hung in the Villanova Chapel. The decision to give some to Villanova was made the second he requested it; it was the right place for it to go.
I became seriously ill in 2014 with esophageal cancer; it came back with a vengeance in 2020. I will never forget how much Nancy and Pete helped my wife Dottie and I through the multiple surgeries, chemo and radiation. Pete’s humor helped me through it – his best comment was that if ever I donated my body to science, students would think I was an alien. My doctors told me they wouldn’t want me now – Pete roared at that.
“True friends” are rare – they celebrate you when times are good, they help you when things aren’t so great, even giving you a kick in the rear when you need it. They are there when others seek to steal your success for themselves and abandon you when you are in the depths of despair. Our relationship was of true friendship which I will treasure for the rest of my days. Pete was my mentor, my team mate, my friend and the closest person to being a big brother that I ever had. I will miss him more than I could ever tell.
