Obituary of Rylee Ann Monahan

Rylee Ann Monahan, age 14, of Gilbertsville, PA passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, January 14, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Sellersville, PA on August 21, 2009, the daughter of Ryan J. and Crystal G. (Vaughan) Monahan.

Rylee was a 2023 graduate of St. Teresa of Calcutta School and was currently a Freshman at Pope John Paul II High School, where she was a member of the golf team.  She was also on the PGA Junior golf team at Spring-Ford Country Club.  She was a talented artist and a Disney and Star Wars fan.  She was a gifted musician and enjoyed playing piano.  Rylee was able to make wonderful memories with her family including trips to Disney World, beach trips to the Outer Banks, and zip lining in Hawaii.  She loved spending time at home with her family and swimming in their backyard pool and relaxing together as a family in the hot tub.  Her connection with animals spoke to her kind heart and calming personality and she enjoyed her dogs, Zoe and Max, riding her friend's horse, Phoenix, talking to her fish, George, and her hamster, Patches. Rylee’s greatest gift was her perseverance and relentless kindness towards others in the face of life’s obstacles, always with a smile on her face.

Rylee was a Childrens’ Hospital of Philadelphia Ambassador and raised over $50,000 to begin funding research to help find a cure and new treatment options for patients and families with Li-Fraumeni Syndrome.

Rylee is survived by her parents, Ryan and Crystal Monahan of Gilbertsville, PA; sister, Madison Monahan of Gilbertsville, PA; grandmothers, Kathleen Monahan of Lansdale and Gail Allen of Louisburg, NC; aunts and uncles, Megan and Corey Kahanowitz of Phoenixville, PA, and Herbert Vaughan of Elm City, NC; and cousins, Teigen, Hudson, Maycee, Logan, Luca and Lenna.

Rylee was greeted in Heaven by her grandfathers, the late Dwight Vaughan and the late John Monahan.

Her Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 11:00 AM in St. Teresa of Calcutta RC Church, 256 Swamp Pike, Schwenksville, PA 19473.

Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation in St. Teresa of Calcutta RC Church, 256 Swamp Pike, Schwenksville, PA 19473 on Monday evening, January 22 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday morning, January 23 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM prior to Mass.

Interment will take place in Limerick Garden of Memories, Limerick, PA.

In lieu of flowers, Rylee’s family would appreciate memorial contributions to the Rylee’s Hope for Families with Li-Fraumeni Syndrome at CHOP, https://chop.donordrive.com/campaign/Rylee-s-Hope.
