Obituary of Marietta M. Bosler

Marietta (Sander) Bosler passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2016. She was born in Duncannon,Pa. on December 21, 1920, the daughter of Erich and Marietta (Morland) Sander along with 2 brothers, Bob and Carl. She grew up in West Phila., then moved to Norrristown, where she lived most of her life before moving to Peter Becker Community, Harleysville, in 1996. Marietta graduated from Norristown High School in 1938 as a member of the National Honor Society, four years later, graduating from Beaver College (now Arcadia College) in 1942 with a BA degree, majoring in organ and music. She was a member of Pi Alpha Sorority and was on the rifle team, where she and her father won the Sharpshooter competition one year. She taught kindergarten and music at the Holland School, Norristown, while teaching private piano lessons for many years. She also was the organist and choir director at Central Presbyterian Church and United Church of Christ, both in Norristown, for over 50 years. While at Central, she was also a Deacon. During that time Marietta also was supervisor of records at Provident Indemnity Life Insurance, Norristown, retiring after 20 years. At Peter Becker Community she was chapel organist and also taught songs and rhythms to the day care children there. She is survived by her son, David Bosler of Wyomissing, and daughter, Susan Griffin of Trappe, along with 6 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and her brother, Carl Sander, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Her hobbies included golf, attending musicals, and visiting with her children and grandchildren. Her travel experiences included England, the Caribbean, Bermuda and Florida. Her passion in life was "teaching children piano and a love of music". Her friends describe "Mody" (their longtime nickname for her) as a loving, caring friend, and "always there for them". There will be "Celebration Service" of her life at the Chapel at Peter Becker Community, 800 Maple Ave, Harleysville, PA 19438 on Tuesday, September 13 at 10 AM. Her family will receive relatives and friends from 9 AM to 10 AM at the Chapel. Interment will be in Valley Forge Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Benevolent Fund at Peter Becker, 800 Maple Ave, Harleysville, PA 19438.
