Mrs. Campbell was one of those rare teachers that change people's lives. I was a tough student - before anyone knew what ADD was. She was tough on me back but in such a loving, fair, and patient way that it began to draw out my best. There was one moment I will never forget. It was after a test and I was the last one at my desk still trying to finish the final math problem. Someone walked out the door and said the answer to the last problem to her asking if it was correct. She nodded and then turned to me to see me changing my answer to the one she had just affirmed. She just looked at me with those eyes that seemed to say - I saw you, I know what you did but more importantly, I see you... and I know you are better than that. It wasn't a look of judgement or condemnation like I had been so used to getting from teachers - it was a look of understanding and encouragement to do the right thing. I can't explain it but that look made me change my answer back to the wrong one while at the same time feeling good that she beyond my current state - she saw the person I wanted to be. Decades later I still remember that moment - that interaction that opened the door for me to have another chance to be the best version of myself - and made me realize that there is always a chance to correct and improve if given the permission and encouragement. It was the first time someone cared enough to teach me the right thing to do without highlighting the fact that I had done something wrong. She was an incredible teacher and special person - the kind that this world needs lots more of. My sincere condolences to her extended family.

Patricia was my math teacher at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School. She was the first teacher to make math not scary to me, and I thought that was remarkable of her. ... Dr. Robert Cooper

Joan, I am so very sorry for your loss; it's a BIG one!
I met Pat when we were 6 years old and first graders at St. Francis of Assisi School. I still have fond memories of her. She was the best!

So sorry to hear about Pat. She was my principal only for the short time I taught at the High School, but in the time I was there, she seemed like a fair administrator who would always listen to both sides of any story. And for that, I believe the students and staff always respected her. Her passing is a loss to us all.
