Obituary of Doris Jane Holland

Doris Jane Holland was born February 25, 1927 in West Conshohocken, Pa. to William and Jeanne (Diora) Ruth. She married Aubrey Holland on March 31, 1945. Doris was very active throughout her early life at Balligomingo Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, attended Wednesday evening prayer meetings and Bible studies and helped with the Ladies Aide Society. Doris worked as a PBX operator at Allen Wood Steel Company for 11 years and participated on a bowling team. Doris and Aubrey moved to Upper Black Eddy, Bucks County in 1981. They became involved in the Frenchtown Baptist Church. Doris was a member of the missionary society and the choir. Upon Aubrey's death in March 1987, Doris moved to Frenchtown, N.J. Doris traveled extensively during her lifetime, visiting her French relatives in France, to England on several occasions and to Australia. She visited her sister in Seattle; voyaged to Hawaii and visited the states from Maine to Florida. Doris worked as a short order cook at Mae Dee's in Frenchtown and also provided home care to people recuperating from illnesses or surgery. In 2001 Doris became seriously ill with bacterial meningitis and was hospitalized for over a month, causing her to move back to Pennsylvania. She took up residence in the Assisted Living Facility in Norristown where she joined Siloam Baptist Church. Eight years later she moved to Parkhouse Providence Pointe, Royersford and lived there until her death on September 27, 2013 at the age of 86. Doris is survived by four sons and their wives: Aubrey (Butch) and Maggie Holland of N.C.; Doug and Bobbie Holland of Fla.; Keith and Lynn Holland of Collegeville, Pa.; and Scott and Nancy Holland of Downingtown, Pa. She also had nine grandchildren: Vicki Harris, Sheri Boudreau, Missy Smith, Douglas Holland, Todd Holland, Amy Gerberich, Jeff Holland, Bradley Holland and Emily Wallace. Doris had eight great grandchildren with one on the way: Jaylene Gerlach, Beau Boudreau, Kylee Smith, Matthew and Tyler Holland, Julia and Ben Gerberich and Weston Wallace. Evelyn Wallace is due on October 12. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 from the Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 300 Fayette Street in Conshohocken, Pa. from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. followed by a funeral service at 7:30 P.M. Doris will be cremated and her ashes will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery with her husband Aubrey. Memorial contributions may be made in Doris' memory to: Siloam Baptist Church, 1329 Willow Street, Norristown, PA 19401.
