Gwendolyn has been living in Royersford, Pa She graduated from Temple University School of Nursing She worked as a Registered Nurse with the former Sacred Heart Hospital and she retired from Montgomery County State Health Department where she received recongnition as "Nurse of The Year" by the State of Pennsylvania She was a member of Grace & Paece Presbyterian Church of Pottstown and a former member of Bridgeport Baptist Church of Upper Merion She was a talented musician and enjoyed playing the flute, organ, clarinet and sang in her church choir

Obituary of Gwendolyn A. Lewis

Gwendolyn A. (Werts) Lewis of Royersford, Pa., age 82, died Tuesday, December 24, 2013, at Seasons Hospice at Phoenixville Hospital of Phoenixville, Pa.  Born in Brockway, Pa., on Feb. 8, 1931, Gwendolyn was the daughter of the late Donald and Mildred (Billingsley) Werts. Formerly of King of Prussia & Arcola, Pa., she had been living in Royersford, Pa. She graduated from Temple University School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse with the former Sacred Heart Hospital. She retired from Montgomery County State Health Department, where she received recognition as Nurse of The Year from the state of Pennsylvania. She was a member of Grace and Peace Presbyterian Church of Pottstown and a former member of Upper Merion Baptist Church. She was a talented musician who enjoyed playing the flute, organ and clarinet, and she sang in her church choir. She is survived by her sons, David J. (Kathleen) Lewis, John S. (Vicki) Lewis and Stephen J. (Angela) Lewis, all of Collegeville, Pa.; her brother, Dale Werts of Emporium, Pa.; five grandchildren, David Jr., Brittany, Gregory, Katelyn, and Rachel; and two great-grandchildren.  Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014, at 10:30 A.M. from the Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 224 West Main St., Trappe. Clergy: The Rev. Bill Mayk officiating. Friends may call on Saturday morning from 9:30-10:30 A.M. at the Funeral Home. Interment will be private.  Contributions may be made in her memory to: Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care, 700 South Henderson Road, Suite 225, King of Prussia, PA 19406.
