Obituary of Patricia S. Shelton

Patricia (nee Stillmun) Shelton of Worcester  Patricia (nee Stillmun) Shelton, 85, the quintessential homemaker and Avon representative for 44 years, died Monday, June 9, 2014 at Meadowood Senior Living retirement community in Worcester, Montgomery County.  Pat, born in Philadelphia, was a graduate of Mt. St. Joseph Academy and, in 1950, one of the last classes in home economics at Chestnut Hill College.   She worked as a demonstrator of kitchen appliances for Phila. Electric Co. (now PECO) until the birth of her first child in 1953. She then remained at home as a wise counselor for seven children, and often their friends, while being an “Avon lady” too.  In addition to retired newspaper editor Carroll (Buck), her husband of 62 years, she is survived by Mary Pat Zack (Jim) of Coatesville, Kathleen Smith (Bill) of Greenwich, CT, Deborah French of Wayland, MA, John Shelton (Pam) of Ft. Washington, Michael Shelton (Karen) of Collegeville, Margaret Varani (Kevin) of Royersford and Peter Shelton (Dolly) of Deland, FL. Also remembering her with loving fondness are 15 grandchildren: Stephanie Zack Jimmerson, Jessica Zack, Jeannine Zack, Will Smith, Patricia Smith, Maureen French, Diane French, Tim Shelton, Tamara Shelton Siler, Ashley Shelton Morrison, Kyle Shelton, Scott Shelton, Matthew Varani, Brian Varani and Janice Shelton. Also four great-grandchildren: Grace and Paul Siler, Connor Morrison and Kellan Jimmerson. Pat was predeceased by grandson, P.J. Shelton.  Pat was the youngest of John F. Stillmun, Sr., and Mary Wagner Stillmun’s five children. She was predeceased by Maria Goldschmidt, John (Bud) Stillmun, Jr., Ray Stillmun, and Edna Rodgers. Pat’s grandfather (NOT great-grandfather), the youngest of his family, fought in the Civil War, having enlisted at 19 with no job on arrival in Phila. from Germany. His name, Carl Stillemunkes, appears on the Pennsylvania monument at Gettysburg.  Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Monday, June 16, 2014, at Corpus Christi Church, 900 Sumneytown Pike, Lansdale, PA 19446. Funeral Mass at 11a.m. Interment at St. Matthew Parish mausoleum, North Lane and Butler Pike, Conshohocken.  Contributions: Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10016 and/or CURE PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy), 30 E.
