Obituary of Robert L. Barr

Robert L. Barr, 88, of Conshohocken, a retired shipper, died Friday, January 2, 2015, Einstein Montgomery Hospital of East Norriton, Pa. Born in Conshohocken, Pa., on December 27, 1926, Bob lived in Conshohocken all of his life. He was a World War II Army veteran who was awarded the Expert Infantryman Badge, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal and Philippine Liberation Medal. He worked with Bentley & Harris Manufacturing as well as Romano Bus Co. He was a loving father, pop-pop, and great-grandpop. He is survived by his daughter, Judith (& Murray) Perlstein of Stowe, Pa.; his sons, Lester (& Kathy) Barr of Sanatoga, Pa., Paul (& Debbie) Barr of Sanatoga, Pa., and David (& Lyn) Barr of Conshohocken, Pa.; his brothers Jim Barr of Conshohocken, Pa., Ronald Barr of Conshohocken, Pa., and Jack Barr of Ambler, Pa.; and his sisters Carol Davis of Conshohocken, Pa., and Barbara Roszell of Montrose, Pa. Also survived by 14 grandchildren & 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl (Kateusz) Barr; his parents, George Barr & Jewel (Smith) Barr; a son, George Barr; a great-grandson, Brandon; a brother, George Barr; and two sisters, Eleanor Blair & Dorothy Gianni. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at 11:00 AM from the Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 300 Fayette Street, Conshohocken. Clergy: the Rev. Ricky Ayala officiating. Friends may call on Monday evening from 7:00-9:00 PM & Tuesday, January 6, 2015, from 10:00-11:00 AM at the Funeral Home. Interment will be in Barren Hill Cemetery, Lafayette Hill, Pa. In honor of his love for children Bob's family would like memorial contributions to: St. Jude Hospital For Children, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
