Obituary of Virginia C. Hoelker

Virginia Hoelker, 90, passed away peacefully after a short illness surrounded by loving family on January 28, 2015. Jinny was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Fred and Rose (Jansen) Kathman. Survived by her beloved husband Edmund Hoelker of 68 years, children Jane Hoelker of Quatar, Mary (William) Bankes of State College, PA , Ed (Sandie) Hoelker of Fort Washington, PA, Paula (Bob) Hoelker-williams of San Jose, CA, Jo (Dennis) Ambrose of North Wales, PA, and Meg (Brian) Johnston of Collegeville, PA; 6 grandchildren Nicholas and Samuel Hoelker, Lauren and Rachel Johnston, Kenneth and Hannah Ambrose; several in-laws and many loving nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by one sister and eight brothers. Jinny graduated with honors from Seton High School in Cincinnati. Unable to take advantage of a college scholarship, she attended Montgomery County Community College several decades later to realize her dream. She was employed at International Computaprint Corporation (ICC) for over 20 years. She was well-liked and highly respected in her role as a Telephone Systems Manager. Jinny was an accomplished seamstress having learned the skill from her mother. She had a love of baseball, books and writing, life-long learning, and international travel. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and discussing current events and politics. She easily engaged with people even strangers. Jinny ensured her children were able to swim, cook and sew. She taught them the value of friendship and loyalty, especially in time of need. She encouraged her children to develop their talents and follow their dreams. She expressed herself through humor, even in her final days. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Sunday, February 1, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 19 E. Germantown Pike, East Norriton, PA and Monday morning from 10:00 to 10:45 AM at the Church. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 2, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Miriam Church, 475 Norristown Road, Blue Bell, PA 19422. Private interment will be held at a later date. Donations in Jinny's memory may be made to your favorite literacy program or charity.
