Obituary of Elwood K. Mummert

Elwood "Woody" Kingston Mummert passed away at the age of 88 on May 27th, 2015. He was surrounded by family. Born in Philadelphia, PA on January 18, 1927, Woody was the son of Emil J. Mummert, Sr. and Clara K. (Beck). People knew him best for his jovial personality, always ready to tell a joke or funny story. Woody liked to be active, doing improvement projects at home, wood-working, or enjoying some of his favorite sports. In earlier years he could be found on the golf course, in the bowling alley, or on his Sunfish sailboat. Woody attended Calvary Chapel of Chester Springs, PA. Woody enjoyed visits and outings with his family. He is predeceased by his late wife Emily M. (Ulshafer). Woody is survived by five daughters: Merle Anderson of Walkersville, MD, Eileen Trihoulis of Bensalem, PA, Vicki Smith of Cherry Hill, NJ, Nancy Smedley of Honey Brook, PA, and Cindy Mummert of Sinking Spring, PA. Woody had eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by grandson Michael F. Charles and his former wife Jeanne M. Wigder. Woody served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Following the war, he was employed as a telephone installer by the Bell Atlantic Telephone Company. With nearly four decades of service, Woody retired from the same company as a Marketing Manager. oody had been living in Downingtown, PA since 1981, formerly of Florida, Bucks County and Philadelphia, PA. Services and interment will be private.
