Obituary of Francis J. Dupell

Francis J. Dupell, 81, most recently of Sanatoga Ridge, Sanatoga, PA passed away peacefully on Friday, December 4, 2015 at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Philadelphia on November 2, 1934, he was the youngest son of Lawrence and Catherine (Walsh) Dupell. Mr. Dupell also lived in Norristown, PA; Morgantown, PA; Poinciana, FL and Mohnton, PA. After graduating from the former St. Thomas More High School, Philadelphia in 1952, Francis continued his education at Brown Preparatory School in Philadelphia. He went to work at Philadelphia Electric, serving in various positions and spending much time in the Ardmore Service Building, retiring as a Senior Construction Detailer in 1991 after 39 years of service. He also served in the Army from 1956 – 1959, stationed in Tokyo, Japan. He was the beloved husband of Jean (Trout) Dupell, with whom he celebrated 58 years of enduring, loving marriage on July 5, 2015. He leaves behind his three cherished children: David Dupell, husband of Rosemary from Collegeville, PA; Valerie, wife of Michael Long, from Limerick, PA and Craig Dupell, husband of Michelle, from Mohnton, PA, upon whom he bestowed unconditional love and support. He was also the much loved Poppy to his 8 grandchildren (Arielle, David and Daniel Dupell, Andrew and Rachel Long, Joshua, Aric and Amanda Dupell) and great nephew and niece (Michael and Kiersten Ciach), with whom he shared hours upon hours of stories about his upbringing in West Philadelphia, the time he spent in Japan, and many other anecdotes and life lessons. Francis was also survived by his great grandson, Landon Varish and was anxiously awaiting the arrival of another great grandson in February. Francis was preceeded in death by his oldest son, Lance, as well as four brothers and two sisters. Also known affectionately as "Frankie Boy", those who were fortunate to have met Francis were left with a long lasting impression, a smile on their face and laughter in their heart. Services will be held at 11:00 AM on December 9, 2015 at Blessed Teresa of Calcutta RC Church, 256 Swamp Pike, Schwenksville. Family and friends may call on Wednesday morning from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Church. Arrangements will be handled by Moore, Snear and Ruggiero Funeral Homes, Trappe, PA. Entombment will be private at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery of Springfield, PA. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to: St. Thomas More Alumni Association Post Office Box 294 Drexel Hill, PA 19026.
