Obituary of Salvatore J. Pergine

Salvatore J. Pergine, age 90, of East Norriton, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2019 at Brandywine Living at Upper Providence.

 

He was born in Norristown, PA on September 15, 1928, the son of the late Pasquale and Angelina (Crapanzano) Pergine.

 

Salvatore lived most of his life in the Norristown area and was a member of Visitation BVM Church.  He was a graduate of Norristown High School, Class of 1945 and then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.  

 

He worked for many years in sales at Stroehmann's Bakery until he retired.  He was active in the Knights of Columbus and served as Secretary.  He was the President of his bowling league and also volunteered his time as an Assistant Football Coach for the Lower Perkiomen Longhorns.  Salvatore enjoyed listening to music, ballroom dancing, golfing and spending time with friends and family.

 

He married Gilda M. (DeCicco) Pergine on May 16, 1954 and they shared 60 years of marriage until her passing in 2014. 

 

Survivors include his son, James (& Melissa) Pergine; daughter, Christine (& Thomas) Norwicke; five grandchildren, Sarah Pergine, Katlyn Palumbo, Eric Pergine, Carolyn Norwicke and Jason Norwicke; and his brother Pat (& Virginia) Pergine of East Norriton.

 

His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 10:00 AM from Visitation B.V.M. Church, 196 N. Trooper Road, Norristown, PA 19403.

 

Friends may call on Saturday morning from 9:00 to 9:45 AM at the Church. 

 

Interment will take place in St. Patrick Cemetery, East Norriton, PA.
