Obituary of Alan I. Cobourn

Alan Ira Cobourn, 78, of Conshohocken, PA passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2019. He was born in Perkiomen Township, Montgomery County, Pa on December 4, 1940, son of the late Clarence and the late Helen (Ishbrecht) Cobourn.

Alan grew up in Manayunk, and lived most of his life in Conshohocken, Pa.

He was the husband of the late Jane M. ( Nelson ) Cobourn.

Survivors include, Daughter Donna (& Lou) Cobourn-Marcozzi of Conshohocken, Son Alan I. Cobourn, Jr. of Conshohocken, Daughter Tracey Cobourn of Conshohocken. He is also survived by his grandsons Louie Marcozzi, Jr. & Joseph Marcozzi, and many nieces & nephews.

Along with his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a sister Helen and 2 brothers Clarence Robert (Bud) & David Malcom Cobourn.

He was a Supervisor with Newman Paper Co. of Philadelphia, Pa.

He served in the US Army Reserves for many years, and like so many veterans, viewed the opportunity to serve as some of the most rewarding years of his life.

Alan, known by family members as "Uncle Duke", was a thorough patriot, proud to be an American citizen. He was always ready to praise and debate the merits of the U.S. Constitution. Alan would talk with anyone, anywhere, anytime, about the rich blessings of U.S. citizenship and our American heritage.

He was an avid, life-long, outdoorsman, a hunter and fisherman who taught generations of young family members to enjoy the forests, streams, and oceans of the country he loved.

Late in life he’d also developed an avid interest in the slot machines at nearby Valley Forge casino.

His Service will be held Monday, September 16, 2019 at 10:30 AM at the Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 300 Fayette Street, Conshohocken, PA.

Friends may call on Monday, September 16, 2019 from 9:00 to 10:30 AM at funeral home.

Interment will be private in St. Matthew's Cemetery.
