Jim was on the hiring team when I interviewed for a promotion job at Texas Eastern in 2009. When he asked a question of me about a corrosion technique, the answer popped out of my mouth, and with Jim's happy grin, I knew I'd landed the job.
Jim continued to mentor me over the next several years, both on the job and in the various classes he taught at the Morgantown short course. I express my sincere condolences and will pray for comfort to all Jim's family.

I have known Jim for 26 years through the Appalachian Underground Corrosion Short Course and more recently as co-workers with Mears. Jim was well respected as an instructor, corrosion engineer and AUCSC Committee member. Jim was a kind man with a wonderful sense of humor. He will be missed.

Jim was a wonderful cook and had a great sense of humor. He also loved theater, which is where we met. My thoughts are with his family during this sad time.

Jim was very knowledgeable and well respected in his technical field. And, more importantly, he was a good man, always treated everyone with respect. I enjoyed my association with him and he will be missed.

I’ve known Jim for many years as a coworker and friend he was a good friend and honest caring person. Although we lived far apart we would talk often but not about work but rather our families and our gardens. I knew him loved to cook so I often hit him up for recipes and would send him fresh dried herbs from my garden. My favorite recipe from Jim is “Cousin Jack” and will always think of him when I make it in the future. I have many fond memories of our time together that I will forever remember. I will truly miss him.

I am so sorry to hear about Jim's passing. I knew he was having some problems but really did not understand their severity. I worked with Jim on many projects and had the opportunity to teach and train people in the corrosion control community at the Appalachian Underground Corrosion Short Course with Jim. Jim had so many good qualities and was diverse in his interests like cooking for intimate dinner parties and his enthusiasm and dedication to the theatre. He was an expert in the Corrosion Control Industry and will be remembered fondly by many many people whose path he crossed. Rest in peace my friend.
