Pastor Bauers supervised me as a straight out of college social worker at Lutheran Social Services of Metropolitan NY in 1959-1961. He was always knowledgeable, inspiring and gracious and I went on to enjoy a long career as Chief Social Worker in Child Psychiatry at University of Michigan Hospitals. I will always be grateful for the role he played in shaping my life as a social worker.

Hello,, This is Michael Rubinate. On behalf of myself and my family, we would like express our respects, prayers, and condolences. I have very fond memories of Reverend Bauers, I will always remember his sense of humor, merriment, and always the ability of an interesting conversation. The Christmas season parties on 23 street were very memorable with all of the Bauers for that matter. Very festive. Maria and I were talking about him recently as a matter of fact. Bob played a very important part in my life. As a child he was an integral part of the friends and family that make up Paradise Falls to later in life enjoying his company at Thanksgiving dinners. I will always remember his remarkable intellect, humor, and integrity. I will miss him greatly.

My namesake who I visited 2/3/20. He was as pleasant, loving, and caring an individual as always. He is the last of the “great generation” of Bauers. He recalled, with a twinkle in his eye, a story he loved of me, in my Mother’s Lap during a Sunday Service at Redeemer in Philadelphia. Grandfather, Ulla, our Pastor, was called away and Uncle Bob, a young Pastor was supply. According to my mother, and Uncle Bob, I looked up and announced for my Mother, “There’s Uncle Bob!”. He repeated that in a clear voice with a twinkle in his eye. He was a treasured influence in my life. Love you, U. Bob, you leave unfillable shoes.
