Obituary of Jean C. Trainor

Jean L. Trainor  

Jean Carol (Lare) Trainor, 85, of Plymouth Meeting, PA passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2020.

She was born in Roxborough, PA on December 24, 1934, the daughter of the late Francis N. Lare and the late Jesse E. ( Moore ) Lare. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by a brother David Lare.

Athlete. Coach. Mentor. Community Advocate Fierce. Strong. Independent. Tough. 

Caring. Thoughtful. Compassionate. Witty. Entertaining. Fun. 

All around “Great Lady” who touched the lives of so many.

Jean was a 1952 Graduate of Roxborough High School.  She was inducted into the RHS Sports Hall of Fame for swimming, basketball, softball, bowling and field hockey.  She was also a member of the 1950 Kendrick Rec Center softball City Championship team.

A love of sports and connecting with youth through sports was a driving force in Jean’s life. She was also a strong proponent of equalizing athletic opportunities for young women in sports.

As a volunteer for Holy Family Church, she helped organize their school C.Y.O. Program. For 10 years she coached volleyball and basketball there. After moving to Plymouth Meeting, she coached St. Phillip Neri girls CYO basketball and volleyball as well. She was a founding member of the Whitemarsh Township Girls Softball League. As a coach she and her teams earned 3 Championships and Jean was League President for six years. She was also an Ellis certified lifeguard and swim instructor at Mermaid Lake Swim Club. Jean was active in Girl Scounting. She was, twice, a candidate for Whitemarsh Township Supervisor.

Jean leaves behind her beloved children, Daughter Lynne Trainor of Logan Twp. NJ, Daughter Melanie (& Ron) Mask of Surfside Beach, SC, Son Frank Trainor of Conshohocken, Son Raymond (& Maureen) Trainor of Conshohocken, Daughter Siobhan (& John) Myers of Independence, OH. also survived by her grandchildren Joseph F. (& Patti) Lynn, Brianna K. (& Joel) Viereck, Ryan J. (& Samantha) Lynn, Tacey M. (& Justin) Tucker, Kathy M. (& Daniel) Nelson, John S. (& Karoline) Mask, Diana M. (& Scott) Samon, Reilly J. Mask, Audrey M. Trainor, R. J. Trainor, Kaitlyn C. Ferry, Bailey Q Myers, & J. Braden Myers, and her great grandchildren Charlotte J. Viereck, Sarah Tucker, Lauren Tucker, Nate Tucker, Margaret Nelson, Robert Nelson, Philipp Mask & Stella Mask.

To honor her love of both Philadelphia and College sports, please wear your favorite team gear to the celebration of her life on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 300 Fayette Street, Conshohocken, PA 19428.

Calling hours for friends begins at 12:30 PM, followed by the memorial service at 2:00 PM.
