Obituary of Margaret Leedom Jackson

Margaret (Lukashefski) Leedom Jackson, 85, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania passed away on Wednesday morning, May 6, 2020 at her daughter, Margie’s, home.  Margie lovingly took great care of her mother in these last months, for which her family is extremely grateful.

Margaret was born in Nanticoke, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, April 24, 1935 to the late Felix and Elsie (Matysik) Lukashefski.  She had two sisters, Pearl Signore and Mary Ann Gunagan, who predeceased her.

Margaret began her life in Shickshinny, Pennsylvania and moved to Passaic, New Jersey while she was young.  When she was a teenager, she moved to Philadelphia to live with her grandparents and worked at her Uncle Bert’s store in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, where she met her husband Thomas G. Leedom, Jr.  They married and had four children, Deborah, Dianne, Thomas and Margaret.

They lived in Glenside, Warminster and then Willow Grove and finally moved to Abington, Pennsylvania where they raised their children on Ferndale Avenue, a great neighborhood, which provided many happy memories.  Sadly, Thomas passed away in March of 1973.

Marge worked as a waitress at The Round Restaurant in Abington, Pennsylvania and continued to work there when it became The Inn Flight a few years later.  She worked there for 40 years until she turned 70 years old!  She loved her job and really enjoyed her customers, as well as her many co-workers.  Customers would still recognize her years later and would take the time to say hello, which made her day!

In her retirement she loved to go to bingo nearly three times a week!  She was a regular at St. Charles bingo in Bensalem, where she had many friends.  Bingo was her passion.  She loved it.  There was nothing else that made her happier than yelling BINGO!

Margaret is survived by her four children, Debbie (& Stephen) Luddy of Apopka, Florida; Dianne (& Edward) Greway of Abington, Pennsylvania; Thomas (& Dawn) Leedom of Conshohocken, Pennsylvania and Margie (& Christopher) Smith of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Also surviving are her grandchildren Stephen J. (& Trish) Luddy; Daniel E. Luddy; Jeffrey S. (& Amy) Luddy; Kimberly (& Daniel) Koch; Jennifer Greway (step-granddaughter); Jennifer (& Mark) O’Neill; Jessica Leedom; Veronica Smith and Allison Smith.

In addition, she is survived by great-grandchildren Jenna, Christian, Jordan and Nate (Luddy); Ariana Koch; Roman & Phoenix Koch (step-great grandchildren); Ethan Smith and Juliet Torres.

She is also survived by many nieces and nephews (some of whom have predeceased her), as well as an extended number of great nieces and nephews.

Her service and interment will be private at Hatboro Cemetery, in Hatboro, Pennsylvania.
