Obituary of Dorothy M. Woodring

Dorothy M. "Dottie Mae" ( Hodges ) Woodring passed on Saturday May 16, 2020, peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones. She was 77.

Dottie was a caring and patient soul who loved her family above all else. She spent her life supporting others with her kindness and compassion. She was always ready to help anyone in need. On good days and bad, she made family, friends, and strangers smile with a funny story or joke. Dottie believed laughter was the best medicine. She also believed Elvis Presley was the greatest singer of all time and that the smoke detector could double as a kitchen timer when she made dinner in the oven. She loved animals, children, comedy, playing cards, talking on the phone, and an evening watching TV with her husband. She taught those who knew her how to love, how to find the good in any situation, how to be compassionate, how to be positive and how to be strong.

Dottie lived most of her life in the Plymouth Meeting and Conshohocken area.

She is now reunited with her parents, George and Louisa (Patterson) Hodges, in heaven.

She will be greatly missed by James Woodring, husband of 48 years, her children Vincent (Diane) McArthur of Plymouth Meeting, PA, Doug (Lisa) McArthur of Plymouth Meeting, PA, and Renée (Jonathan) Bar of Texas, Sister of Charles Hodges of Florida, William Hodges of Coconut Creek, FL, Rodney Hodges of West Conshohocken, PA, and Sharon (& David) Iacovino of Plymouth Meeting, Pa.  Also survived by her 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Her memory will live on through them, as well as through her surviving brothers and sister, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by a brother George T. Hodges, Jr.

Due to Covid-19, the funeral will be private. A celebration of her life is planned for a time when everyone can be together.

Interment will be in Philadelphia Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to: St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, because Dottie strongly believed no child should ever have to go through what she did.
