Obituary of Rosemarie DiDomenico

Rosemarie (Auffredou) DiDomenico, of Trappe, PA formerly a resident of West Brighton, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2020. She was 88.

Born on Roosevelt Island in New York City, she grew up in Tottenville. Rosemarie attended PS #2 in Richmond Valley, one of the last two room School houses in New York City. She also attended PS #1 in Tottenville and graduated from Tottenville High School in 1949.

Married in 1954 to James DiDomenico they settled in West Brighton.

Rosemarie is predeceased by her husband James, her parents, Felix & Marie Auffredou, and her five siblings, sisters Yvonne Xiques, Marie Moller, Helen Bishop and brothers John and William.

Mrs. DiDomenico was last employed on Staten Island at Mt. Augustine Retreat House on Grymes Hill before moving with her family to Whitehouse Station, NJ in 1977 and after 21 years relocating to Trappe, PA.

Mr. & Mrs. DiDomenico were volunteers for Meals on Wheels for over 10 years, both in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Mrs. DiDomenico traveled extensively with her husband throughout Europe, as well as the United States. They covered most of France by car, including searching for her parents’ birthplaces in Metz, Alsace-Lorraine, and Scaer in Brittany, France.

They enjoyed selecting new destinations to celebrate New Year’s Eve, including London, Rome and their favorite was celebrating the millennium in Paris.

For their 50th wedding anniversary, they planned a trip on the Orient Express from London thru France and Switzerland before eventually arriving in Venice.

Mrs. DiDomenico became a food blogger in her 80's, and cooked and posted her blog for over 10 years. She met and became friends with many other food bloggers all over the world online and met many of these same friends in person, including cookbook authors whose books they "cooked their way thru".

She loved to garden, cook, travel and was an avid reader.

Most of the important holidays were spent with family, cooking the traditional Italian specialties, for both Easter and Christmas Eve.

Rosemarie is survived by her son Robert (& Stephanie) DiDomenico of Brentwood, CA, her daughter Patricia (& Peter) Stormer of Phoenixville, PA and her grandchildren Erin Platvoet, Kelsey DiDomenico, James Stormer and Chase Stormer.

Her funeral service and interment will be announced to family and friends once health conditions improve. Both will occur on Staten Island.
