Obituary of Alvin K. Herring

Alvin K. Herring, "Hetch", age 89, of Collegeville, PA passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2020.

He was born in Freeland, PA on January 31, 1931, the son of the late William and Mary (Drasher) Herring.

He has been living in Collegeville for over 60 years.

This legend of a man, married 63 years to the love of his life. Al was the loving father of 6 children. The best pop pop to 12 grand children and an awesome three pop to soon to be 7 great grand children.

To Al there were only two seasons...

hunting and fishing! He was an avid hunter, but never in his life bagged an avid.

He enjoyed spending time at “the shack” aka Camp Flying Bull”. It was always a full cabin for breakfast come opening day!! I can still here him with his kazoo doing the wake up call!!

He taught his entire family a love for the outdoors. He loved planting his flowers in the spring. And loved his tomato patch in the summer. On a sunny day you could always find him sun bathing in the back yard!

He will be deeply missed by his family and his beloved chocolate lab Kisses.

Rest In Peace.

He was the beloved husband of the late Alice A. (Hughes) Herring, who passed in 2015.

He is survived by six children, Wayne (& Jackie) Herring of Douglassville, Drew Herring of Pottstown,Wendy Carl of Royersford, Troy (& Debbie) Herring of Pottstown, Eric (& Tracey) Herring of Spring Mount, and Heidi (& Joe) Parente of Trooper; as well as 12 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 224 West Main Street, Trappe, PA 19426.  A Memorial Service will follow at 7:00PM.
