Obituary of Edward M. Daley

Ed Daley, age 87, died Monday February 15, 2016 at Sunrise at Blue Bell. Born January 21, 1929 in Boston, Mass., he was the son of the late William E. Daley and Agnes (Cooper) Daley and the husband of 59 years of Margaret (Peg) (Taylor) Daley who died January 24, 2016. He was preceded in death by a son Christopher Edward, a daughter Katherine Louise, his brother William E. Daley, Jr. and his sister Anne Hill. Surviving are his children Kevin M., Mark T., Mary Kim Mowery (Jim), Margaret Daley Rogers (Brian) and Jeffrey Walter (Colleen). In addition, thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Ed's interest included about a half dozen: cooking/baking specialties, amateur wood-working on projects around the house, conventional and digital photography and computer cataloguing and enhancement of same. At one time, he and his wife spent a good deal of time directing and traveling groups, as well as traveling on their own. Ireland and Lourdes were their favorite destinations. Ed and his wife greatly enjoyed traveling the Amish country several times a year. Of special interest, also, were meetings with their Marriage Encounter friends over many years. Ed served 4 years in the Air Force, Principally as gunner on B-36 type aircraft with the Strategic Air Command's Fifteenth Air Force & 325th Bomb Squadron. Ed was a Mechanical Engineering graduate of the University of Delaware and spent the major part of his working career with General Electric Aerospace involved with satellite and re-entry vehicle applications as an Electronic Packaging Engineer. He worked about 2 and ½ years at Philco Corp. and about 5 years at C&D Batteries where he was involved with industrial and submarine Battery applications. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Monsignor James F. Baldrick Memorial Scholarship Fund, C/O Gaudeamus Music Ministry, P.O. Box 8, Blue Bell, Pa 19422. Viewing will be conducted at 9:30am to 10:45am on Saturday February 20, 2016, prior to the Mass at 11:00am at Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church at 3050 Walton and Township Line Roads Plymouth Meeting, Pa 19462. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in West Conshohocken.
