Obituary of Josephine S. Scharff

Josephine S. Scharff  

 

Josephine “Josie” (Swetkowski) Scharff, 91, of West Conshohocken, PA passed away Thursday, December 24, 2020.

 

She was born in West Conshohocken, Pa, the daughter of the late Leon and the late Stella (Polkowski) Swetkowski.

She was a lifelong resident of West Conshohocken, Pa.

Josephine was a member of St. Mary's RC Church and now a member of St. Matthew's RC Church of Conshohocken, Pa.

 

Josie always loved being surrounded by family and especially loved her family vacations down the shore…often speaking of them until the next year.  Throughout her life, she would also often be seen working in her yard and garden.

 

During her career, she worked as bank teller with National Bank of Norristown, Pa, and with Archibald Allan / Northstar in Fulfillment and Quality Control positions.  She volunteered with her church at their many Polish events and as a Girl Scout Leader with St. Mary's Girl Scout Troop. 

 

Josie took great pride in her town and served a long number of years on West Conshohocken Borough Council as a member and former Council President. She volunteered at many community events and always strongly supported the West Conshohocken Borough Police Department and George Clay Fire Company.

She was a Life Member of George Clay Fire Company.

 

She was the wife of Late - Francis X. Scharff, Jr.

 

Survivors include, Daughter Joanne (& John) Crawford of Conshohocken, Pa, Daughter Leah (& Matthew) Hepler of  Conshohocken, Pa, Son Gregory (& Patricia) Scharff of Conshohocken, Pa, Brother Leon "Mike" Swetkowski, also survived by her Grandchildren Jennifer Crawford, Courtney Hepler, Lily Scharff and Xavier Scharff, and by many cousins, nieces & nephews.

 

Along with her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a Brother Edward Swetkowski, and 4 Sisters Caroline Zummo, Irene Buswick, Theresa Swetkowski, and Regina "Jean" O'Connor.

 

Her Private Family Graveside Service and Interment will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 10:30 AM from St. Benedict Cemetery, Conshohocken, PA. 

 

Memorial Contributions may be made in her memory to St. Matthew RC Church - 219 Fayette Street, Conshohocken, PA 19428, St. Charles Borromeo Seminary Spiritual Year - c/o Fr Christopher Cook, 51 E 3rd Avenue, Conshohocken, PA 19428, or George Clay Fire Company 426 Ford Street, West Conshohocken, Pa 19428.
