Obituary of Marion Z. Tamaki

Marion Tamaki of Plymouth Meeting, PA, passed away on January 5, 2021 at the age of 93. Marion was born in Greenwich, CT to Sadao and Barbara Miyazaki.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Helen Kasai. 

Marion was a Past President of the Montgomery County Medical Society Alliance and Past President of the Ikebana Society of Philadelphia.  She was a longtime member of the Japanese Tea House and Garden of Philadelphia and Norristown Garden Club.  She remained an active lifetime volunteer at Montgomery Hospital, did charitable work with the Norristown Rotarian wives and with several other community organizations.       

Marion was an avid reader who loved to dance, cook, garden in her green house, and was involved in the many activities of her children and grandchildren.  

Marion was predeceased by Dr. H. T. Tamaki, her loving husband of 64 years.  Both were active members of the J.A.C.L. (Japanese American Citizens League) locally and nationally, and were proud of their Japanese heritage.   Marion and Tom traveled the world extensively and enjoyed entertaining colleagues, friends, and extended family members. 

Marion is survived by her loving children, Dwight Tamaki (Patricia), Greg Tamaki (Julia), Karen Buescher (Phil), and Drew Tamaki; and 9 grandchildren, Connor Tamaki; Keleann and Ryan Tamaki; Russell (Laura), Clayton, and Karli Buescher; Ellen, Anna, and Evan Tamaki.  

Services and interment will be private for family members only.   

The family requests in lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be sent to the   J.A.C.L., 1765 Sutter Street, San Francisco, CA 94115, or the American Heart Association.
