Obituary of Charles W. Hemcher, Sr.

Charles W. Hemcher, Sr., 87, of Garrett Hill, PA passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021

He was born in Bryn Mawr, PA on January 6, 1934, the son of the late Daniel J. and the late Catherine ( Doyle ) Hemcher, Sr.

Mr. Hemcher has lived in Garrett Hill most of his life.

He was a member of St. Thomas of Villanova Church.

He attended Lower Merion High School and Villanova University.  He served in the Army Air Corp.

Charles was a member of Overbrook Country Club of Villanova and former member of Rolling Green Golf Club of Springfield.

He was a self employed Restaurant Owner and Operator including Timbers, Horace P. Jerky's, Tap Room USA, Yorkshire Club, and the Great American Pubs.  He also owned Doyle & Hemcher Construction, Toby Ann Corp., Hemco Corp, and Peddlers Alley.  Mr. Hemcher would always say, "our restaurants were only successful because of the friendships we have and people that walked through the door."

 

He was the husband of Anne Marie ( Long ) Hemcher for over 65 years. 

 

Survivors include his wife, Anne Marie Hemcher of Rosemont, PA; son, Charles W. (& Kathy) Hemcher of Lafayette Hill, PA; daughter, Anne Marie "Amy" (& John) Brennan of Rosemont, PA; son, Timothy P. Hemcher of Rosemont, PA; daughter, Cathy (& Joe) Carr of Paoli, PA; son, Thomas J. Hemcher of Rosemont, PA; son, Mark "Sarge" Hemcher of Rosemont, PA; daughter, Karen Hemcher of Rosemont, PA; and brother & sister in-law, William and Regina Long, Jr. of West Chester, PA.  He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, Charles, Carly, Kyle, Kevin, John, Christopher, Ashley, Bridget, Jake, Catie, Kelsie, Tom, Jr., Lauren "Dolly", Billy, Brandon and Taylor; and his great grandchildren, Brennan, James, Kinsley, Tucker, and soon to be baby girl, Brennan.

 

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, John J. "Reds" Hemcher and Daniel J. Hemcher, Jr., and two sisters, Sally Behm and Catherine Schwartz.

 

His Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 11:00 AM from St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 800 East Lancaster Ave, Villanova, PA 19085.

Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken, PA.
