Obituary of Linda G. Anderson
Linda G. Anderson, originally from Plymouth Meeting, PA, died peacefully at home on January 7th, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was the proud mother of her son Brett Anderson (Marc Lifland) and her furry children Sweetie and Claire. Linda is also survived by her sisters Susan (James), Leslie, Tracy (Bryan), her brother Bill (Laurie), along with her aunt, cousins, nephews, nieces, and great nieces. She was predeceased by her parents William and Shirley (Gum) Anderson.
Like her aunt Letty before her, Linda was determined to carry on the tradition of avoiding a boring, sappy obituary filled with blatant mistruths. We will do our best to fulfill her wish in our woefully inadequate summary of her life. Linda was both amused and mortified at her son’s idea that she be memorialized as a character on SNL’s Weekend Update, regaling the world with her “Linda-isms.” Seeing as how we don’t know Lorne Michaels, we will have to settle for what we can provide here. Linda had terrible balance and could trip over a laser beam. She would apologize for no reason at all, and then break into a string of apologies just for apologizing. Linda’s favorite words were “ohhhh” and “whoops!” and she could tell a story longer than Rose Nylund. When a person was about to announce good news, she would gasp due to her constant worrying and ask “who died” (breaking news: she did).
Linda had a long list of illnesses and medications, but an even longer list of friends. Strangers rarely stayed that way because she welcomed every person she met into her life with open arms, whether they were neighbors home alone on Thanksgiving or babies at the next table at a restaurant. She charmed every nurse and doctor she met and she made friends with every healthcare worker from the entrance to the back room.
Linda was excellent at recognizing faces in pictures and we have lost our family historian. She had many jobs over the years, from teacher and bartender to executive assistant, traveling saleswoman, and even radio commercial announcer. Without a doubt, her favorite job was being a pet-sitter. She could be found spending her evenings reading a book curled up on a couch with a dog or cat. Linda was kind, caring, a faithful sender of birthday wishes, a warm and funny friend, and a supportive and loving mother. Her absence will be felt for years to come, but our memories of her and her love will last many more.
