Obituary of Marge Young

Margaret T. "Marge" Young, age 86, of Douglassville, PA passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2021.

She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on November 11, 1934, the daughter of the late John and Margaret (Willox) Findlay.

Marge was a resident of  Douglassville, Pa, for the past 18 years and formerly of the Wissinoming section of Philadelphia.

She was the wife of the late Joseph R. Young, Sr.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol (the late Scott) Buchanan of Bordentown, NJ; son, Joseph (& Jen) Young, of Youngstown, OH; son, James (& Marjann) Young of Middletown, PA; daughter, Susan (& Michael) DeLuca of Lansdale, PA; daughter, Michelle (& Rick) Schellinger of Douglassville, PA; two sisters, Joanne Walker and Kathy (& Bob) Stewart; brother, Ron (& Joan) Findlay ; ten grandchildren, Ed (&Christine) Scott (&Rhonda), Katy (&Vijay), Jay(& Nikki) Emily(&Nate) Ashley(&Justin), Pete, Michael(&Lauren) Matthew(&Michelle) and RJ, and five great grandchildren, Caitlyn, Amaya, Vivian, Carly, and Michael.  She was a loving Aunt and God Mother to many nieces and nephews. She was the adopted “mom” of her children’s friends and the neighborhood gang.

Along with her husband and parents, Marge was preceded in death by her mother in-law, Emma Young; a daughter Patricia, three brothers, Jack(Yogi), Pete & Billy Findlay and brother in law John Walker.

She was a parishioner of St. Teresa of Calcutta Church of Limerick and a former parishioner of St. Bartholomew Church of Philadelphia. She was a member Saint Teresa of Calcutta Basket Raffle Committee, the Little Flower Alumnae Association and for many years while in Philadelphia a member of the Moss Athletic Association, St Bartholomew’s Home and School, Disston Dance Mothers' Club and Girl Scouts.  After raising her children,  Marge became a legal secretary at the Law Firm of Sweeney and Sheehan.

Marge was immensely proud of her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and neighbors who were like family.  She shared in their joy and accomplishments and provided comfort in times of sorrow. She stayed in touch with friends and family via social media and often would comment how much she loved a post!

She loved her craft projects, cross word puzzles and entertaining her family and friends.  In life, Marge faced challenges with grace and resilience. She was also fiercely independent, lovingly stubborn and the person many turned to in their time of need.
