Obituary of Barbara M. O'Neill

Barbara M. (nee Rane) O'Neill, 84, of Gaithersburg, MD, formerly of Philadelphia, PA, Plymouth Meeting, PA, North Cape May, NJ, and Olney, MD, passed away on Tuesday August 3, 2021.

She was born in Philadelphia, PA on April 25, 1937 to the late Leon & Mary (Anderson) Rane.

She was a graduate of South Philadelphia Girls High School Class of 1955. She went on to hold various positions at Sealtest Ice Cream, Reliance Insurance and Alcoa Corporation, making lifelong friends along the way.

She married Hugh P. O’Neill, Jr. in 1962, enjoying 56 years of loving partnership prior to his passing in 2018. Together, they founded O'Neill Insurance Adjusters in 1981, which they operated until 2015.

Barbara is survived by her son Hugh P. O’Neill III and wife Kelly Brown O’Neill of Mount Joy, PA; daughter Suzanne O’Neill and husband Clesson Turner of Kensington, MD; two beloved granddaughters, Claire O’Neill and Nora Turner; two nieces, Patricia Carsley Baasch (Herb) and Terri Carsley, and brother-in-law Joseph Carsley.

She was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Margaret (O’Neill) Carsley. 

Barbara's Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Epiphany of Our Lord RC Church, 3050 Walton Road, Plymouth Meeting, Pa 19462.

Relatives and friends may call on Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:15 AM at the Church.

Interment will take place in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
