Additional Obit Info
Francis (Frank) J. Hinnegan, Jr. of Blue Bell PA died at his residence, Sunrise of Blue Bell, on March 13, 2016, surrounded by his family. Frank was born in Norristown, PA on Sept. 2 1933, the son of the late Catherine Hinnegan (Irons) and the late Frank J. Hinnegan of Norristown. He was employed at Alan Wood Steel as a machinist. At Alan Wood, he served as union Shop Steward for many years.
Frank served his Country as an Army Private, First Class and Field Communications Crewman. He was also trained as a paratrooper, and was a member of the Army Reserve. He received a National Defense Service Medal.
Frank was married to Kathleen H. Hinnegan, and they had 3 daughters, the late Carol E Hinnegan, Dianna Waclawski of Skillman, NJ, and Kathleen Ann DiClementi, of Blue Bell, PA.
Frank was a life-long and outspoken Democrat as well as a lifetime member of the NRA
and active member of the Lower Providence Rod and Gun Club in Audubon, PA. He had strong opinions on important issues, and tended to follow them closely. He could frustrate the staunchest opponent with a mix of facts and whit. You didn't take him on lightly in an argument.
Frank was an avid hunter, but fished with a passion bordering on obsession. He loved to talk about the smallmouth of the Susquehanna and the Delaware, the largemouth bass of the lakes in Florida, the peacock bass in Venezuela, and the weakfish that once frequented Raritan Bay. He perhaps most loved the nights he spent with friends on the rocky jetties of New Jersey, casting plugs for striped bass; or being on the sands of Island Beach State Park during the wee hours, sometimes spending days at a time, in the hunt for stripers. He was known for tinkering with tackle, making and testing new fishing plugs, figuring new fishing tactics, and experimenting with rod design. He put his time in. He did it right.
One of Frank's enduring legacies is the knowledge and respect for his sport that he passed on to his daughters, other fishermen, his grandson's, his nephews, and son-in-law. He shared generously.
He leaves behind his daughters, Dianna and Kathleen Ann, his grandchildren Dianna, Cody, Anthony, Jonathan, Trevor, and Alex; his son in law, Tony, his great granddaughter Brooke, his sister, Pat Kremens of Shark River, NJ, and many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 12 Noon at the Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 19 E. Germantown Pike, East Norriton, PA 19401. Friends may call from 11:00 AM to 12 Noon at the Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Stony Creek Anglers, P.O. Box 566, Eagleville, PA 19408.
