I am so sorry that I have just learned of Dennis' passing. I worked with him those years at Beaver College/Arcadia University and we had some laughs. Dennis was so smart, yet he was full of common sense and had a great sense of humor. We got along immediately since we both worked in the insurance industry and were at times bewildered from culture shock having left the corporate world and moved to higher ed. He was a great boss and a great teacher. He cared about his students and really put a lot into teaching them and I know first hand because I had him for two classes. But what I will remember more than anything is how much he talked about his family. There was never a doubt, how much he loved them. God bless all of you through this difficult time. My sincere condolences.

You are missed Uncle Dennis. As Gaye so eloquently shared, you were caring, strong, and selfless. And while so true, maybe a little less caring when you were placing me in headlocks and raining down noogies on my head at our family gatherings in Conshy. In hindsight, now I realize you were preparing me for the future, thank you!! And I always loved the pictures of you, my Dad and Uncle George squashed in the middle.

We bonded through basketball. I think I can speak for my fellow high school senior teammates. Doc was our Archbishop Kennedy High School freshman basketball coach and our senior year assistant varsity basketball coach. He was an outstanding coach already at age 24 when we met. We give him most of the credit for our league championship senior year at Kennedy. Tough, demanding and passionate about the game, Doc embodied the grit and tenacity of Conshy, his hometown. Doc served and helped many others through his lifetime devotion to coaching basketball. He unselfishly gave his time to others. We were lucky that Doc was there for us at impressionable ages.
My teammates and I thank you Doc. We're basketball brothers forever.
James McEvoy (for Kennedy senior year teammates, Gene Gordon, Dave Kunaszuk, Jim McGettigan, Dan Conboy, Tim Dorsey, and Bill Longo.

I met Dennis many years ago at Cabrini College. He was one of the kindest people I have ever met in my life. He was honest, sincere, very smart, and always there if you needed to talk. He was one of my favorite people. The world was great with him in it and I will miss him.

While only in the past few weeks, I was especially touched to learn how much Uncle Dennis loved our annual Christmas Eve celebrations that we started many years back.
He always seemed to enjoy the food, deserts and a Sprite or 7 Up but little did I know how much he enjoyed being there with the family.
Turns out that even though he may have seemed quiet, he was thoughtfully observing everything, taking it all in, and he didn’t miss a thing. And also, in his own quiet way, he was always willing to help if ever a need arose. I will miss him and think of him fondly and especially on Christmas Eve.
Love,
Marilyn

My favorite memories of Uncle Dennis involved a lot of basketball growing up. Although a little too young to remember him playing at St. Matt’s, I do remember shooting around at the Conshy parks, and also practicing with his team at Spring Garden. A Spring Garden game is where I also first met his lovely wife Gaye. What a wonderful night.
He was a great coach; tough, hard-nosed, and knew the game inside and out.
No doubt he’s already rounded up a team of angels and is coaching them up in heaven.
Love,
David

Dennis lived his life as a servant leader, always insightful and wise, and as a mentor that was open and honest with you. Dennis wasn’t your boss, he was your family.
My heart goes out to his family. I know he will be missed greatly in the higher education community.

I’m so sorry to hear Doc has passed away. I worked with him at Cabrini and he always had a smile on his face and was a great mentor to me. I can clearly see him sitting back in his chair in his office laughing as we chatted. Sending my sincere condolences to you all. He was a very special man. ❤️
