I’m happy to have known Robert Byrd. He had a personality that never ceased to intrigue me. No matter how I was feeling, he would say something or acknowledge my presence in such a seemingly quiet manner; however, it would speak volumes regarding his kindness, character, and intuition, always making me pause for a moment to reflect while bringing a smile to my heart. My sincerest condolences to the entire family. - Rayna (Mills) Bolich

Brother Byrd was very special. He guided me and Tracy throughout our marriage. When we were experiencing problems he was quick to go straight to the Bible. It always helped. Not only was he a strong spiritual man, he was also generous with his time and resources. My husband would call Robert his surrogate dad because he treated us like a loving father. I look forward to see him again in paradise!

One benefit that i received from my brother being sick is that we were able to draw closer together and get to know each other even better. Spending time with Robert and his photographic mind that brought our family past to life, it was like listening to a audio book .But what I loved most was when he would talk about Jehovah he would leave me in awe He knew his Father so well .I will miss being with Robert but will look forward to the day when we can pick up where we left off !

Looking back on my life with Robert Byrd, aka Pop-Pop, puts a smile on my face and brings tears to my eyes. For me, he was the epitome of strength and wisdom. He would never not have advice for a situation you might be in (and most times it came in the form of a story). He made me laugh and always challenged me to think. 91 years is a long time, but my heart keeps telling me it wasn't long enough. He will be dearly missed, and has increased my longing for the day when we'll meet again forever. My thanks goes out to all of you who have sent their condolences to our family through text, phone, email, and this page!

From the moment I was introduced to the Norristown East Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, Brother Robert Byrd's watchful eye was always on my family. His faith, strength and integrity helped to shape my family. Many fond memories of riding in the service van with both he and Nelson. Their steadfastness was truly remarkable. Our deepest condolences to all of the Byrd family. Love, Lloyd, Sonya and Justin Scott.

My car broke down my night and it was cold it was raining and my cell phone on top of that was dead. I was so frustrated I was about to get off my car and just walk home is, but a cab pulled up and asked me if I was okay. Little did I know it was Robert and his sister's meeting and I got home safely. Ever since I've known him he's been very kind and considerate and a great brother.

To all in the family, our hearts are heavy along with yours in the loss of Robert. His absence is already being felt by so many. He was such a spiritual pillar and fine example of faithfulness in the congregation over the decades of dedicated service. He was to me like a spiritual dad to whom I could talk about anything. He was always ready with a scriptural thought or Bible principle most fitting for the discussion at hand. We laughed together, and sometimes even shed a tear together. I appreciated how he humbly shared his struggles both past and then present. His doing so with a view to leaving me encouraged, and he always accomplished that.
From him I learned more things than this forum will allow. Of those many things was his example of hard work, endurance and integrity. His strong ove for Jehovah and Jesus, along with his strong will and determination, helped to sustain him as his health deteriorated. He often shared that reliance on the strength that Jehovah supplies, and keeping busy with theocratic activities will help us get through ANY situation we may encounter in this system. Those were not mere words coming from him...he lived it. So to all of you, I want to say " Thank You!" While he was your father, brother, uncle, grandfather, or great-grandfather, you shared him with us...with me. He will be missed, but not for long. This is just a pause in his story.
A Scripture that makes me think of him, and is one that I believe he would want us all to keep close in heart until we see him again, is Isaiah 12:2 which says: "Look! God is my salvation. I will trust and feel no dread; For Jah Jehovah is my strength and my might, And he has become my salvation." May Jehovah continue sustaining you all individually in the days and months to come. Sending you my heartfelt sympathy and love, Allanah
