Joanne was a favorite of my mom, Rita Lutz. We lived next door to the Mastascusa's in the early 1950's, and cousin Joanne used to babysit my brother Mark and I when we were quite young. I never got to know Joanne whilst growing up, and our family moved to California in 1959. However, Joanne touched bases with me a few years ago, and it was such a delight to hear from her after so many decades. I was able to talk to her a few times, and now, I wish it had been more. My dad, Frank Lutz was the brother of Joanne's mom, Thelma.
I wish to extend my sympathy to Joanne's family for their loss.

Cousin Joanne's house was my favorite place to visit as a child growing up in Pittsburgh. Her mother Thelma gardened, cooked, and sewed with enthusiasm, laughing freely as she went about her chores. Her father Nick was a great magician who never failed to entertain the whole family in their living room. Her brothers Ed and Jim were always fun to be around, endlessly curious. Joanne, from the time she was just a little girl, sparkled with energy and big smiles. Everyone loved her sense of mischief, and found her irresistible. She was always so very pretty.
Joanne was a beloved friend as well as a favorite cousin. We cherish memories of her life-long love of music and the ways she freely shared it. We are inspired by her never-ending sense of hope and her deep faith. We will always miss Joanne.
Our family is sending a gift in loving memory of Joanne to the Music Therapy program at Avow Hospice in Naples, Fl.
We regret that we cannot attend the funeral service, but will certainly be with you in spirit.
Janet Bischoff (daughter of Grace Lutz Lawrence, Thelma's sister) and husband Bernhard Bischoff

Loved your mom. I remember singing at Saint Mary's with her. I think she may have even sang at my and Jerry's wedding. She and my dad were great friends, he one of the church organists and she a choir director and singer. My mom also sang with her in the choir. However, my fondest memories were as a youth, rehearsing "The Witness" at your home in Medford. Joanne always welcomed us the same way with her big smile and a laugh. Her dedication to making us be our best was carried out in a very kind and deliberate manner. We also rehearsed there with our teen praise & worship band from Come Alive Church "Pure Heart." I will cherish those moments with her and I look forward to singing together again in heaven one day. May your family be blessed and may God comfort you during this most difficult time. Rest in Peace Joanne knowing you are loved by so many.

Joanne was the best! She was my Mentor at St. Agnes. She gave piano lessons to my son Landon. And, she hosted the most amazing Holiday gatherings for my kids and I. I'll miss her sing alongside with Madison & Landon. She will be in my memories for eternity. Love you Joanne!

My mom Erma Jean was telling me how Joann dressed her mother Thelma for her funeral. It was a blue cardigan with a little white collared shirt under it. We were talking about how she wore a beautiful suit and a big hat to Ed and Mary’s wedding, and my sister Christine always wanted to be like her.
