Obituary of Herbert C. Lindsey

Herbert C. Lindsey

Herbert C. Lindsey, 90, of Norristown, PA, passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2022.  He passed away peacefully at home from natural causes.

Herbert was born, July 6, 1931, in Spring Mill to William and Daisy Mae (Wright) Lindsey.  He grew up in Conshohocken with his parents and brother William.  As a child, he loved spending his time outdoors fishing, hunting, picking cherries, berries, and peaches that would grow wild along the river in West Conshohocken.  He had a passion for nature and he enjoyed camping and exploring as well as love for animals.  His interest grew in photography to capture his love of nature.  During his younger years, he enjoyed golfing and being a member of local dart leagues.  When Herb wasn’t traveling or spending time with his family, you could find him playing the penny slots at Parx Casino.  He had nostalgia for old movies, especially war movies, and his love of music was that of the Golden Age of Hollywood.

Herb served in the Navy during the Korean War.  He was also a member of the Norristown Maenner-Chor Club and the Tri-County Hunting Club.  He volunteered at the St. Francis of Assisi Christmas Bazaars as well as a volunteer lunch monitor when his children attended the school.

He was an avid Phillies and Philadelphia Eagles fan.  When asked each year what the Phillies are going to do this year, his answer would always be the same, “They are going to take the pennant this year.”  During football season, he would always ask “are you going to watch the Eagles win this Sunday.”

He was a person who always had a joke, a story, or a comment that would make you laugh.  He was quick-witted and always had an answer.  When you think of Herb, you think funny and the thought of him could always put a smile on your face.

Herb was a dedicated, loving husband to his wife Angeline (Mazur), and in the 71 years together, they had four children, Debrah Ann Lindsey. Michael G. (Lea), Donna Marie Marinello (Steven), and Margaret J Mash (David).  They were blessed with grandchildren, Jennifer Tarhovicky, Meredith Traill, Allison Brown (Henry), Erin Lei Martire (Gregory), Victoria Lindsey, Dominic Marinello (Cortney), Sarah Anne Mash, and 15 great grandchildren.  He was always happiest when spending time with his grandchildren, he cherished the time spent with them and always spoke with pride when talking about their activities and accomplishments.

Herbert was preceded in death by his parents, William and Daisy Mae Lindsey, his brother William Lindsey, his great granddaughter Julia Harris, and his son-in-law David Mash.

Funeral services will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 600 Hamilton Street, Norristown, PA 19401.  Friends and Family may call on Friday, February 18, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. followed by his funeral mass at 11:00 a.m.

Interment will take place at George Washington Memorial Park, 800 Stenton Avenue, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association P.O. Box 714005, Boston, MA 02241-7005.
