Obituary of Ronald P. Custer
Ronald Preston Custer has passed at Phoenixville Hospital on Sunday afternoon November 20,2022 after complications with his heart. He lived over 1,000 years in his 97 years that he spent on earth. He was known as a kind and loving person, anxious to talk about his life experiences with plenty of stories created by his 5 children, 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife D. Jeanne (Turner), sister, Edna (Custer) Traub and brother Alan.
While we all have but one death to spend, and insofar as it can have any meaning, for him, it finds it in love of his wife, family, and friends. After graduating from Conshohocken High School, his wish in a self-penned obituary explains his pride in World War II service with the U.S. Army Air Corp. He served as an Administrative Specialist for the 7th Fighter Wing of the 525th Headquarters Unit attaining the rank of Sergeant. After his service, 45 1/2 years working as supervisor of shipping at Quaker Chemical, he retired in 1988 to devote 34 years with his family.
He was unofficially known as block captain of Hollywood Avenue because of his 73 years at the post in the house he built. Coaching baseball at Lower Providence Little League during that time brought a smile to his face every time it was discussed. His message to his children found in his dresser drawer – “To all my children, when I pass on please do not cry, grieve or be sad. Be happy for me, now I am where I want to be – with Mom, love you all -Dad”.
He is survived by his five children, Richard, wife Patty (Piazza) and their son Ryan and daughter Nicole Peppel; Debbie (Custer) Tyson, husband Bob Tyson and son Christopher, and daughter Courtney; Sandy (Custer) Valdez, husband Rick and their son Michael and daughter Nikki Fisher; Wendy (Custer) Parisano, husband Domenic and son Domenic and daughter Danielle; Barbara (Bobbi Custer) Detwiler, and husband Donny and their sons Kyle, Jared, and daughter Sarah Custer.
