Obituary of Clare Anna Gorski
Gorski, Clare Anna, formerly of Collegeville, Pennsylvania, died at age 93 at Normandy Farms Estates in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania on February 28, 2023. Clare was born in the Nicetown section of Philadelphia on July 21, 1929, the daughter of the late Henry and Helen Potoczny (née Gronek). Clare attended St. Ladislaus grade school and graduated from Little Flower High School in 1947. In 1953, she enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, but a medical condition changed her plans to serve her country, and she was honorably discharged later that year. She subsequently worked as an au pair in New Orleans, LA and Long Beach Island, NJ, and was employed at Leeds & Northrup in Philadelphia. In 1959, Clare entered into what would become a 53-year marriage to her husband Napoleon (deceased), and assisted him in his mail-order business while becoming a dedicated homemaker.
Clare was a member of St. Helena Roman Catholic Church in Blue Bell. She was an enthusiastic patron of the arts, and had eclectic taste with a keen ability to recognize quality and talent in people, art, film, music and literature. She was an avid reader and book collector with boundless curiosity. She also enjoyed sewing, cooking, doing crossword puzzles and taking care of her pet cats. Clare was naturally generous in spirit, and her wide circle of friends and family were the grateful recipients of her friendly hand-written letters, engaging phone calls, personalized hand-picked care packages, and delicious meals prepared with love. All those who knew Clare were blessed to have such a supportive and caring woman in their lives.
Clare was the beloved mother of Valentin Theodore Gorski (Adina) of Jamestown, RI and Keira Jean Gorski of New York, NY. She was grandmother of Sasha M. Gorski and Evan M. Gorski. She was the loving sister of Henry Potoczny and Marlene Erickson, who both preceded her in death. She was the loving aunt of Robert, Elaine, Christine, Karen, Edmund Jr., Claire, Caesar Jr., Jerry, Susan, Jeffrey (deceased), Deborah, David, Erica, Marie and Anna.
