Rick and I, along with the Althouse family are all so sad about Albert’s passing. A flood of memories are coming back over a 50+ year span. Weekends in Sea Isle, getting snowed in up the mountains, partying in the Bahamas, sailing up to NYC Harbor, blasting “Sympathy for the Devil” out the windows of his Chevy Caprice and tying the biggest Christmas trees to the top of that same Chevy, (as we had no car ourselves), cheering on the Phils even when they stunk, and of course, many good holiday meals at Annemarie’s and Mike’s - as recently as this past Christmas. And personally working with Al at ND, my favorite was how he would toss fries at the girls. They loved it! Rest in Peace, Albert. Bev Althouse Mathis

My fondest memories of Al are from his time at ND. I would go down for coffee and have a wonderful conversation with him. He was a soft spoken gentle soul. Heaven has gained an angel and an excellent chef! Rest and cheer for the Eagles!

I will always remember Al's smile and calm demeanor. We had some heart to heart chats as Al had insight and wisdom and complete compassion. He was not only a friend to the faculty but also to the students who loved him as well. I have missed him ever since he left Notre Dame but thrilled for him to be head chef at Merion. He is our special angel now, kidding with the wonderful group of ND nuns who were waiting for him. Dearest Albert, rest in peace

It is with great sadness that I learned of Al's passing. I met Al when he was the Chef at ND, one of the kindest people who took great pride in his creations.
