Obituary of Frank Winkel

Frank Joseph Winkel died peacefully at home on Friday June 21, 2024. He was the son of Edith Wayne & John E. Winkel, stepson of Clinton J. Geoghegan and brother of John E. Winkel, Jr. Frank is survived by Patricia, his wife of 60 years, sons Thomas & Peter (wife Andrea), grandchildren Mack & Cecilia and many in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

For 35 years, Frank taught Physics at Norristown H.S.  He loved his job, his family, friendship, golf, fishing, poker, gardening, cooking, creative home maintenance, sailing in a boat he built, and evidence-based debates.

Frank was a graduate of St. Joseph’s University where he earned his pilot’s license as a cadet in Air Force ROTC and enjoyed recounting stories of his many flying adventures. He was a proud graduate of Loyola Blakefield H.S. in Towson, MD where he starred on the 1958 State Champion Football team. He attempted to apply Loyola’s Jesuit philosophy to every aspect of his life.

Frank lived a full and joyous life and will be greatly missed.
