Obituary of Michael Mario Capone

Michael M. Capone, age 84, of Audubon, PA passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023.

He was born in Philadelphia, PA on May 16, 1939, the son of the late Mario and Honora (Tozar) Capone.  Michael graduated from St. Thomas More high school in West Philadelphia and was a proud "Golden Bear."  Michael graduated from St. Joseph's University, where he met his wife of 55 years, Diane.  Michael has been a resident of Shannondell at Valley Forge for one year, formerly of Ambler, PA.  He was currently a parishioner of St. Eleanor Catholic Church of Collegeville and a former parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua parish.  

He taught for over 30 years in the School District of Philadelphia, at Elkin Elementary School, Adaire Elementary School and ending his career at Mastbaum High School (the Baum).  After retiring from the School District, he taught theology at Archbishop Carroll. 

He honorably served in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife, Diane D. (Deppenschmidt) Capone of Audubon;

two sons, Michael (& Lina) Capone and Dominic (& Ryan) Capone;

two daughters, Ellen Mary (& Peter) Coffee and Diane Capone;

and six grandchildren, Dennis, Samantha, Gianna, Patrick, Isabella, Phineas.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Catherine Capone; three brothers, Joseph Caponi, Philip Capone and Richard Capone; and sister, Ellen Capone. 

His Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Eleanor RC Church, 647 Locust St., Collegeville, PA 19426.

Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing on Friday morning from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Church. 

Interment will take place in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham, PA.
